FIRST (Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training) STEPS is the latest addition to the NRA's training programs for new shooters. It provides hands-on orientation to one specific rifle, pistol or shotgun model in as little as three hours, including a one-hour shooting session on a range. Key Benefits
OverviewNew firearm owners are encouraged to take the "first step" of obtaining training and this program is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper operation of one firearm model. Since this is model-specific, and only the most basic shooting skills
are taught, it is not a complete "course" in the traditional sense of the word, however, it
provides a thorough overview to firearm safety, handling, and shooting skills. The course takes about three hours to complete. It will include
initial practice time with your firearm under the supervision of the Chief
Firearms Instructor.
Attractive certificates are awarded to participants who successfully complete each basic course. <
